      涞源县位于河北省保定市西北部，八百里太行最北端，地处河北、山西两省，保定、张家口、大同三市交界处。自古是中原门户、高原锁钥、京师右臂。

      涞源，最让人迷恋的是21度的夏天。这里平均海拔1000米，太行山、燕山、恒山首尾相接，群峰拱翠、万壑舒青；拒马河、涞水源、易水源三水同源，7大泉群遍布其中；负氧离子含量高达每立方厘米2万个，是一个您可以尽情呼吸的地方。夏季平均气温只有21.7℃，无蚊、无霾、无酷暑，有山、有水、有凉风，被誉为“京西夏都、生态凉城”。

      涞源，最令人惬意的是一城山水半城湖。被誉为“太行之首”的白石山位于县城南部，是世界地质公园、国家5A级景区。它拥有全国唯一的大理岩峰林地貌，集峰林、怪石、绝壁、峡谷、瀑布、森林、云海等景观于一体，登一山，可览五岳之神韵。发源于县城中心的拒马河是中国北方唯一一条不断流的河，沿着河水顺流而下，可以欣赏到翠柳拂堤、鱼鸟翔集的涞源湖。山、水、城相拥共生，相映成趣，气韵灵动，令人流连忘返。

      涞源，最让人追思的是悠远的千年古韵。“何当凯旋宴将士，三更雪压飞狐城。”宋代诗人陆游《长歌行》里的飞狐城指的就是涞源县。在这里，您可以寻访辽代最古老的土木结构建筑阁院寺，重新敲响全国唯一有明确记年的辽代大钟；您可以登临绵延122.5公里的明长城，触摸斑驳的烽火台；您可以纵览四十里飞狐古道，它既是杨家将抵御辽军南下的屏翰，也见证了古代丝绸之路的繁华。涞源是八路军开辟晋察冀边区根据地解放的第一座县城。黄土岭战役击毙了日本“名将之花”阿部规秀，白求恩为八路军做手术的孙家庄小庙保存完好，抗日少年英雄王二小的事迹世代传扬。讲好红色故事，传承红色基因，我们一直在路上。

      涞源，最令人神往的是国家级滑雪旅游度假地。这里建有世界最大的滑雪跳台群和最先进的风洞实验室，拥有京西南最大的滑雪场。在这里，您可以尽享冰雪的速度与激情，也可以在华中温泉度假小镇体验高山温泉、享受冬天别样的温暖和惬意。未来随着北京体育大学中国雪上运动学院的建成投用，涞源也将成为世界一流的雪上运动竞技体育人才培养基地。

The best summer resort to the west of Beijing, and the most scenic town in northern Hebei. Hello, everyone. I am Wang Yan, the County Magistrate of Laiyuan County Government of Baoding City, Hebei Province. In this beautiful season, I’d like to invite you to explore with me the poetic and picturesque Laiyuan which is neighboring Beijing and Xiong’an.

Laiyuan County is located to the northwestern of Baoding City of Hebei Province, by the north end of grand Taihang Mountains, on the border between Hebei and Shanxi, and also sharing its border with three cities: Baoding, Zhangjiakou, and Datong. Since ancient time, it has been a gateway to central China, a fortress to the plateau, and a right hand to the capital of the country.

The most fascinating part of Laiyuan is the cool summer of 21℃. The average elevation here is 1000 meters. Taihang Mountains, Yan Mountains, and Heng Mountains are connecting to each other with various peaks and valleys in green. Here is the source of three rivers, Juma River, Laishui River and Yishui River, with seven scattered spring groups, being featured for negative oxygen ion concentration of 20000 per cubic centimeter. It is a place where you can feel free to breathe. The average temperature in summer is only 21.7℃, reputably known as “Ecological and Cool Summer Town to the West of Beijing”, boasting its mosquito-free, haze-free and heat-free environment and scenic views of mountains and rivers with cool breeze.

The most appealing part of Laiyuan is the big lake in the scenic county. The Baishi Mountain, a world geological park and national 5A scenic resort, also known as “Head to the Taihang Mountains”, is located in the south of the county. With integrated views of peak forest, craggy stones, lofty cliff, valleys, waterfall, forest and thick clouds, etc., it also includes the only marble peak forest landform in China. By visiting this Mountain, you can feel the charms of all Five Great Mountains of China. The Juma River, originated from center of the county, is the only river in north China without drying-up. As you travel downstream with the river, you will reach the Laiyuan Lake where green willows, fish and birds can be found. The mountain, the river, and the county embrace each other in harmony and beauty, constantly attracting the visitors with their lively and vivid charm.

The most profound part of Laiyuan is the thousand-year historical deposits. “Should the Feihu Town be retrieved in the snowy night, the triumph army shall be treated with a grand banquet.” In the poem A Song in Slow Time by the poet Lu You in Song Dynasty, the “Feihu Town”refers to Laiyuan County. Right here, you can visit Geyuan Temple, the most ancient civil engineering structure from Liao Dynasty, and knock the only big bell in China, which has clear year mark from Liao Dynasty. You can visit the 122.5km of Great Wall from Ming Dynasty to feel the weather-beaten beacon towers. You can visit the forty miles ancient Feihu path which was the defense barrier of the Generals from Yang Family against the Liao Army from north, and also the witness of prosperity on the ancient Silk Road. Laiyuan is the first county liberated by the PLA in establishing their strongholds in the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei border area. In the Battle of Huangtuling, the Japanese “Blossom General” Abe Norihide was neutralized. The small Buddhism temple of Sunjiazhuang village where Dr. Norman Bethune did surgery operation to soldiers of Eighth Route Army has been well preserved. The heroic story of anti-Japanese youth Wang Erxiao has been praised for generations. We have been consistently endeavoring to publicize the revolutionary stories and inherit the communism spirit.

The most attractive part of Laiyuan is the national level skiing and tourism resort. It has the world's largest ski jumping platform cluster and the most advanced wind tunnel laboratory, and has the largest ski resort in southwest Beijing. Right here, you can freely feel the passion of speed on snow and ice. You can also enjoy special warm and cozy winter time with mountain hot spring in the Huazhong Hot Spring Vacation Resort. With the establishing and functioning of China Snow Sports Academy of Beijing Sport University in the future, Laiyuan will also become a world’s first rate cultivating base for snow sports talents.

The most unforgettable part of Laiyuan is the nostalgia in the bottom of one’s heart. Laiyuan is on the 39 degree north latitude which is the “golden latitude” for agriculture and plantation. The unique climate brings honorable titles such as “Fine Quality Walnut Origin in China” and “Pilot Plantation Base of Pollution-free Millet in China”. All sorts of delicious food such as proso millet cake, sour bean curd, red trout, hand-made naked oats rolls, and pancake with meat fillings bring sensational taste and satisfaction to your appetite. On the theme of “Households Deep in Clouds”, there have been 16 villages awarded with honorable title of Provincial Level Beautiful Village in Laiyuan, and more than 2000 households rated as Beautiful Courtyard, illustrating the new sceneries of unique image and charm for each village.
